Obtaining Ukrainian citizenship by an incapacitated applicant

Article 13 of the Law of Ukraine "On Citizenship of Ukraine" provides for the establishment of citizenship for incapacitated persons. Obtaining Ukrainian citizenship (UC) after the establishment of guardianship over persons recognized as legally incompetent is one of the demanded services from the law firm Legal Center.

In order to obtain a UC in this case, a foreign citizen or stateless person permanently residing in our country must be declared legally incompetent in court. After that, you need to issue guardianship over the Ukrainian citizen.

What you need to submit:

  • Application for obtaining citizenship by an incapacitated person;
  • A copy of the court decision confirming the fact of establishing guardianship over the applicant after he was declared incapacitated;
  • Certificates confirming that the guardian has a UC;
  • Certificates confirming the fact of permanent residence of the incapacitated applicant on the territory of our country;
  • 2 photos of the established size of a person who was declared legally incompetent by a court decision.

The date of receipt of the UC is the moment when the court decision on the guardianship of the incapacitated person comes into force.
